MATHIEN

Chicago-bred artist Mathien (may-thee-in) began recording soul and hip hop influenced music in his parents living room during his early teenage years. Upon graduation from High School, he moved his equipment down to Carbondale, Illinois where he attended college and began assembling bands to play the material live, with good outcome. Selling out shows all over the Midwest and receiving extensive college radio plays due to his song “We don’t need to make love to know that we’ve got it” eventually led to Mathien being signed to a 3 album deal with Midwest Music Group in 2009, By 2012 Mathien had regularly sold out the House of Blues and embarked on countless US tours. Needing a change of pace, Mathien parted ways with MMG in 2014 and moved to Tennessee where he released Unique Man in June 2014 and The Freedom Tapes (which includes the hit song, “Wurlitzer Crowley”) in January 2015 both to critical acclaim. C.A.L.M was released in 2016 followed by DoWhutNah?! In 2017. More recently, Mathien has been collaborating with The Brothers Castle to score visuals for brands and non-profit organizations. His collaborations include; PUMA, Pusha T, Shinola Detroit and the Babel Project, among others.
